Meet the team

Our team is composed of highly qualified veterinarians, experienced technicians, and animal- loving support staff. Each of us brings unique skills and specialized knowledge, allowing
us to address a wide range of medical and animal welfare needs.

Veterinarian

Fernando del Rio

Founding veterinarian of the San Jorge Veterinary Clinic

Fernando Ribas del Río is the founding veterinarian of Saint George Veterinary Clinic. He graduated in veterinary medicine from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zaragoza in 1992.

He completed internships at that faculty, specializing in the field of surgery, and continued to expand his training with internships at other clinics. In 1997, he founded Saint George Veterinary Clinic and since then he has continued to train in different fields of internal medicine and surgery, specializing in traumatology, orthopedics, neurology, and soft tissue surgery, performing the most complex interventions in those fields.

Always attentive to new technologies, he opted for diagnostic imaging by implementing
digital radiology systems, digital ultrasound and rigid and flexible endoscopy, magnetic resonance imaging, and finally a surgical microscope to improve all the services provided at the clinic. A member of AVEPA, GEVO, GEMFE, GGA, and with an extensive history of courses, he has always shown a desire to learn and improve in all aspects of the profession.

Sito

Gives support and lots of love to the clinic's patients

Sito came to the clinic in 2013 at just one year old. He was a stray cat who came because he couldn’t walk and dragged his hind legs. We took an x-ray and saw that he had been shot. He had a pellet in his spine, which is why he was dragging himself.

We performed surgery to remove it, but the pellet had already been there for weeks. After doing physiotherapy and medication, he was unable to regain mobility in his hind legs.

Nowadays, he is responsible for providing support and lots of love to the patients of the clinic, as well as to the entire human team.

Cristina Casanueva

In-patient care and operating theatre auxiliary duties

Cristina has been part of the team more than 7 years as an assistant. She has trained as a veterinary technical assistant, equine assistant, and has taken courses such as X-ray technician and K-laser therapy in Madrid. She is responsible for the care of hospitalized animals, laboratory work, surgery, and consultation tasks. She is passionate about treating exotic animals and also collaborates in finding homes for homeless animals.

Human resources and clinic management

Since 2014, Ester has been managing the reception of the clinic, performing administrative tasks as well as handling billing, human resources, and clinic management. She is also a Veterinary Technician. Veterinary

Miguel Quiñones

Veterinarian of the Sa Coma centre

Graduated in veterinary medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid. He started working at Sa Coma in 2012 and has been the veterinarian at the center since October 2014.

Wildlife rehabilitation assistant

Veterinary technician assistant and wildlife rehabilitation technician. She has volunteered at recovery centers and shelters, specializing in feline handling and medicine. She is in charge of laboratory tasks, hospitals, and will be delighted to help her patients.

Rosa Roig

Administration and customer service

She works as a receptionist at our clinic and is a veterinary technical assistant. She studied at CIM Group Training in Valencia, where she also learned about canine and feline grooming. She is in charge of reception, advising the client and generating tranquility and empathy with our patients.

Irene Guasch

Care for boarding schools and support for veterinarians

Assistant, completed her studies remotely with MasterD. She did her internships at our clinic and stayed working with us. She is in charge of surgical tasks, hospitals, and also collaborates as a foster home and provides in-home daycare.

General veterinary surgeon specialising in cardiology

Alessandra is a veterinarian, she completed her studies at the University of Milan and at the University of Córdoba. She worked for 8 years in a veterinary hospital and 2 years with horses. Her specialties include internal medicine, emergency medicine, and cardiology.

Alba Cardona

Assisting veterinarians in the treatment of patients

Alba has more than 7 years of experience as an assistant in our team. She obtained the title of veterinary technical assistant at the Montjuic Veterinary Hospital in Barcelona in 2016, where she also trained in hospitalization, surgical assistance and anesthesia, laboratory work, and reception. Among her skills is rehabilitation, laser therapy applied in rehabilitation and wound care, showing a special interest in being a surgical assistant. She brings her affection, calmness, and dedication to the patients for a speedy recovery.

Kasandra Martínez

General veterinary and emergency care

Veterinarian graduated from the University of Extremadura in 2021. She was an intern in
equine neonatology during her studies and completed internships in various clinics and hospitals. She joined our team in 2022 and has completed continuing education courses in emergencies, ECG, and is currently enrolled in a program for internal medicine in geriatric animals.

Julia Carmona

Caring for the animals living in Sa Coma

Julia joined the Sa Coma team in April 2022. Being an animal lover since always, she dedicates her work to taking care of and improving the well-being of all the animals residing at the center.

Gisela Martínez

Cares for the inpatients as well as support in other areas

Assistant at our clinic, with a canine grooming and aesthetics degree obtained at Grupo CIM Formation Alicante. She also holds a veterinary clinic assistant degree obtained at Albali Training Center Alicante.

Ariadna Álvarez

Reception and customer service

Receptionist at our clinic, studied administration and finance and is in charge of customer service, both in person and over the phone.

Javier Lecumberri

General veterinary surgeon, emergency care and operating room attendant

Javier Lecumberri Monfort graduated in Veterinary Medicine from CEU University. During
his studies, he complemented his theoretical learning with internships in various departments of the faculty. He stands out for his four-year experience as an intern in the Pathological Anatomy service of the university, where he took on the role of fellow and group leader.
Later, he specialized in surgery, anesthesia, and emergencies, obtaining a postgraduate degree in soft tissue surgery in small animals (PGCert.ST Surg.). His interest in anesthesia and locore- gional blocks is reflected in the completion of specific courses in these areas, demonstrating his constant pursuit of specialized knowledge. Javier continues his active training
by participating in relevant courses and conferences in the veterinary field.

Gemma Soto

Operating theatre manager and equine medicine specialist

Gemma is one of our senior veterinarians. Graduated from the University of Murcia from 2005 to 2010. She completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at the Autonomous University
of Barcelona from 2011 to 2012. She started her career at CV San Jorge in 2015, showing a special interest in the surgical and hospitalization department. She has participated in continuing education courses in soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, ophthalmology, feline dentistry, emergencies, emergency surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Currently, she is responsible for the equine medicine and surgery service, as well as the soft tissue surgery and feline dentistry service.

Leo

Gives a lot of love to our team and to the people we admit

Leo arrived at our clinic in 2022 at 6 months old. He was brought from a cat association because they found him crawling. During the examination and tests, nothing came up, no fractures or anything.

We did physiotherapy sessions and treated him with anti-inflammatories, and he has already managed to stand up and take a few steps. Before, he had difficulties urinating and defecating, and we had to help him, but now he does it all by himself.

Among his tasks at the clinic, Leo is one of the ones responsible for giving a lot of love to our team and the hospitalized animals.

Coral Sanz

Administration and customer service

Receptionist with 7 years of experience in our team. She has worked her entire life dealing with
the public and collaborates as a foster home, finding homes for animals in need. She speaks English and is in charge of invoices, budgets for Sa Coma, scheduling organization, among other responsibilities.

She manages administrative and reception tasks in face-to-face consultations, as well as telephone assistance, always with professionalism, kindness, and empathy towards
our clients, both people and animals.

Andrea García

Cares for the inpatients as well as support in other areas

Assistant, she studied in Sevilla with Portacoeli Veterinary Clinic. Once the theoretical part
was completed, she did her internship at Zamfer Veterinary Clinic in Lebrija. She joined our clinic in 2022 and since then she has improved and expanded her knowledge in this profession . In addition, she has completed the laser therapy course (K Laser) in Madrid.
